STAR Sharing Treatment and Autism Resources
In this workshop the discussion will focus on how special education services are individualized to meet the unique needs of each student and follow a Maryland Statewide framework. Included throughout will be Parental Rights in the Special Education process and why partnership and advocacy are so important. The workshop will conclude with resources that are available to support families of children with disabilities.
Presenters: Kimberly Marchman and Marjorie Shulbank
Kimberly Marchman is a Family Support Program Specialist in the Division of Special Education/Early Intervention Services at the Maryland State Department of Education. In addition, she is a certified secondary science teacher, mother of 3 children with IEPs and was a family support professional in Harford County.
Marjorie Shulbank is a Senior Staff Specialist in the Division of Special Education/Early Intervention Services at the Maryland State Department of Education. Marjorie has over 35 years in special education, has chaired the Autism Task Force, been a member of the Autism Commission, is a parent of 2 adult daughters with challenges (504) and is knowledgeable about Part C and Part B of IDEA, Section 504, FERPA and Medicaid waivers.
